Don't Tax My Beauty

If you are all over social media you will see a lot of ladies posting their selfies with #DontTaxMyBeauty for the past week now. The hashtag trended on Twitter as Filipino netizens expressed opposition to the proposed vanity tax.

The Corpus Juris, the online Philippine Law Library, said on its Twitter account that the proposed vanity tax is "unjust, unconstitutional, oppressive and discriminatory."

Social Media Power

Most netizens lamented that the proposed vanity tax directly affects women.This is due to the fact that Bicol representative Rodel Batocabe proposed to imposed 10-30% tax on cosmetic products and cosmetic procedures. However, an online campaign against this won as stated by the Inquirer dated January 18, 2017.

According to the report Rep. Batocabe stated that :

“We also listen to the sentiments of the people who will be affected by the tax on the beauty industry,” Batocabe said at a press conference on Monday.

Batocabe’s proposal to tax what he described as a “multibillion-peso beauty industry” drew a firestorm of protests within days, led by a social media campaign called #DontTaxMyBeauty.

“The vanity tax was proposed in good faith to spare our people the scourge of imposing excise taxes on petroleum. But then, we do realize from the sentiments that taxing beauty products would also adversely affect certain sectors, which according to some, would also deprive them of their basic happiness. Hence, this decision,” Batocabe said.

Once again this shows that the power of social media when used strategically overnight change move mountains. Millenials really speaks thier mind thru social media platforms and with that I just hope that everybody will use it to benefit them for the good.

LIV Nation - Sinulog Jamboree 2017

There is no other great way to start the year but with a huge festival as the Sinulog-Santo Nino Festival. Just a little history of this festivity. It is an annual cultural and religious festival held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City and is the center of the Santo Niño Catholic celebrations in the Philippines.

The word Sinulog comes from the Cebuano adverb sulog which roughly means "like water current movement;" it describes the forward-backward movement of the Sinulog dance. The dance consists of two steps forward and one step backward, done to the sound of drums.

In line with the most grandest festival in our country expecting more that 1 Million local and tourist to participate in all the activities (if you want to know the schedule of the activity for this festival please do visit : Cebu Goverment's website for details ). The BIGGEST and most LUXURIOUS club in Cebu will be having an event that you will surely enjoy too.

BE IN YOUR BEST BEHAVIOR INSIDE THE NIGHTCLUB

Do you remember when you were a child and used to accompany your parents over to a friend’s place, a restaurant or a shop, they’d always advise you to behave! At the risk of sounding like your parents, we too are going to give you a lowdown on how to behave in a nightclub.

We know how difficult it is to be polite, sensible and morally correct in a nightclub, possibly attributed to the large amounts of alcohol consumed but the reality is that many people just don’t know how to behave inside a club. Not to worry, it’s no rocket science--just an art. Take a look and avoid these sinful aspects of clubbing.

1) ‘Excuse Me’ Is Still In Fashion

Night clubs are noisy, really noisy and crowded too. It also gives you the leverage to let your hair down and not to engage yourself in any mundane, useless conversation. However, it does not mean that you’ll shove away people from your way. A polite tap on the shoulder accompanied with an ‘Excuse Me’ still works, you know.

2) Sip Up Your Drink Before Hitting The Dance Floor

Don’t take a full drink onto a busy dance floor. If it’s a beer bottle, then it will work. However, if you are happily sipping onto a cocktail in a martini glass, then make sure you finish your drink to the point where it won’t spill on anyone or on the floor. Also, make sure you don’t knock your glass on the floor. Inebriated state might allow you, but the club authority wouldn’t.

3) Don’t Make Chain Gangs

Friends who eat together stay together, we are aware of it. But friends who hold hands and make a train while inside a club are considered obnoxious. Not to mention, it becomes very uncomfortable for people who they bump into while moving in a chain. You won’t lose your friends in a club and even if you do, make some new one. You are in a club after all!

4) Don’t Take Pictures! Not One After Every 2 Seconds

You are inside a discotheque which is already dark and there goes a flash in your face, after every 2 seconds. Irritating right? It’s okay to click a picture or two, but there will always be that annoying friend who’d want to flash the camera right in your face every now and then. They need to be stopped. Their facebook profiles are already brimming with such nonsensical pictures. How about just put the camera inside the bag, relax and have some fun. Sounds fun right?

5) Move Away From The Bar

No one cares how cool you look leaning at the bar counter with a drink in your hand, you should clear the area once you have purchased the drink. There are hundreds of people in a queue behind you waiting to get wasted. Be a gentleman!

6) She Is Just Not That Into You

Sorry to break that to you but she is not interested. She’s given you the cold shoulder, refused your drinks, dodged away from you in the crowd and royally ignored your smiles. Take the cue. Just because she is dancing, does not mean you can dance with her. This is your time to leave her alone and walk out with dignity and your shins un-bruised.

7) You Are What You Wear

Last but not the least, you’ll be judged by the way you dress in a club. The club etiquette says that you can’t wear shorts and chappals, of course, follow the rules religiously. On the flip side, avoid wearing jeans and sneakers too, you can wear them to a pub or a lounge, works just fine! But in a club, it’s a strict no-no. Wear a classy shirt, pants and relatively dressy shoes instead.

Remember there are tons of other people out there wanting to have a great time in a club, just like you. Follow these rules and rest assured that you have a killer night out.
