Daft Punk is a French electronic
music duo consisting of producers Guy-Manuel de
Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The two
achieved significant popularity in the late 1990s as part of the French house movement, and
were met with continuous success in the years following, combining elements of house music with funk, techno, disco, rock, and synthpop influences.
They are also known for their visual stylization and disguises
associated with their music; specifically, the duo have worn ornate helmets and
gloves to assume robot
personas in most of their public appearances since 2001. They rarely grant
interviews or appear on television.
Daft Punk are noted for their use of visual components associated
with their musical productions. The music videos for their singles from Homework
featured distinctive characters and placed emphasis on storytelling instead of
musical performance. The album Discovery subsequently became
the soundtrack to Interstella 5555.

Earlier this week, an article from DJ Mag was released statin that "Daft Punk
were rumoured to be touring in 2017 but now reports have come that
the robots live return has been greatly exaggerated.
Consequence of Sound reports that an “industry source” has confirmed
that Daft Punk have no plans to perform live next year."
Speaking on online forum/aggregator Reddit, Consequence of Sound
founder, Alex Young, went on to say that sources have confirmed “they aren’t
accepting live offers”.
There is still currently no official word from the Daft Punk camp.
The timing would fit with Daft Punk's past touring itinerary, with
the duo playing live once every 10 years — they played at Glastonbury in '97,
followed by Wireless, Rockness and Oxegen festivals 10 years later in 2007.
Daft Punk recently featured on The Weeknd's
new single 'Starboy', the first outing since their LP 'Random Access
Memories' in 2013.
